Here's the 2nd song from our time in the studio this week, it's a bit different, bit of an experiment really. Uses pretty much my full vocal range. Always try to push myself and experiment as much as possible!
Verse
Her pretty face does a pretty good job
Of hiding truth on her bed of lies
Chafed skin and a bangle to wear
And a mark that says that she doesn't care care care
Chorus
Find a way, take a breath, keep it all up and see
Fake a smile, for a while, then you'll definitely
Give a fuck, when I don't, walk away
(Why don't you smile for, why don't you smile for me)
Verse
A cover up is just a cover up
And her mascara is starting to fade
Now I'm not trying to say she's not worth attention, and I'm not trying to fight my feelings for anybody
But I need something more from her
Chorus
Find a way, take a breath, keep it all up and see
Fake a smile, for a while, then you'll definitely
Give a fuck, when I don't, walk away
(Why don't you smile for, why don't you smile for me)
Bridge
Just in time
I need a little bit from your eyes
A little place that I know you know
A little place that we both can go
But you don't see
All the things I need you to see
It's getting harder for me
Are you in it for me?
Chorus x2
Find a way, take a breath, keep it all up and see
Fake a smile, for a while, then you'll definitely
Give a fuck, when I don't, walk away
(Why don't you smile for, why don't you smile for me)
Outro
Felt so good
Time for change
(I keep it up
Live my life for the fantasy
I kept it up
Live a life of insanity)
(Why don't you smile for, why don't you smile for me)

Nice to see you have a new band.
Who did the mixing?
In any vocal song the vox must cut through the best and produce the emotion and tone in your voice.
To my ears the panned guitar is too loud and clashing frequencies with your vox, the bass needs to be louder, hence their is a strong drum beat, which needs to match the bass - in doing so it will give the music more drive and energy.
How close do you get to the mic when you sing? - I sense if you get closer it will sound fuller and more intimate - you need to experiment starting from the closest you can get with a pop shield to about the width of you your hand.
Overall I see a continued improvement in your skills and songwriting - keep it up

Was so sure I replied already but never mind - thanks for the comments as always Denis! The engineer doing the recording did the mix and he said if there's anything we want changing after we've had a listen then he'll do it. So I'll be passing him a few ideas!

You can send me the raw tracks if you like and compare mine to his. I haven't recorded anything for over 8 months, which is unlike me, thought I'd give songwriting a break and get into photography. Photography has been fun, but I really miss the music. Unfortunatley I have a nerve problem in my neck that effect my left arm and I don't have the strength to play the guitar properly, plus it's painful. Hopefully I'll recover soon and get back into songwriting again.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this! Seeing as I haven't been here for years, this is a massive improvement from what I remember before. Vocals sound a bit dampened as Denis mentioned.
I would expect to hear this when I turn on the radio. Hell, I'd expect you guys to go on tour some day! Very nice sounding track, fantastic work.

5 stars from the fish
Hot damn man, voice tone sounds great. Nice work!
I'm a big fan of things like what you did with singing "definitely" in the chorus. It's got that unexpected quality that makes ya brain pay more attention.
The middle screams (2:55~3:00) sounded like they were being held back a little while trying to still hit the right note. The outro screams were money though. Nailed em.

Well powerful mix, neat music well suitable for live settings, sure you have commercial aspirations? In that case you could investigate how to take the music a step further, to really challenge the audience, and yourselves of course. Make yourselves stand out!
But all in all, this has great energy and promising potential indeed, good job!
