Reminds me a lil on a mix of Billy Joel and Velvet Underground. Good composition, good arrangement.
There are some points to improve, imo.
First the mix sounds a bit "thin", needs more bottom end.
Secondly the voice is a wee bit shaky in parts. But maybe itīs intended.

First of all I really like the style, melody and musicianship.
The recording, in my opinion, could do with a bit more mixing but you did mention its a work in progress.
The vocals are pretty cool. Its a bit pitchy in places that need some attention.

Over all I enjoyed the song and hope you repost the completed work when you are finished.
