This song is not in a battle

Crappy folk songs from the middle of nowhere. This is the title track off my first album. You can find the rest, including 3 other songs, an Old Crow Medicine Show cover, and a big ol medley at https://soundcloud.com/tamarack-2

Oh my gosh Welcome to bandamp first of all. So happy you find this excellent community. You'll love it here.

Secondly,
Your voice is fantastic. I love this style and you've captured the essence of lo-fi acoustic-ness oh so beautifully. I am gonna check out the rest on your soundcloud when I get some time.

I really love this and the lyrics are really good too. 2:48 vocal breakdown was incredible and un-expected. This is so so so good. Loved it. and welcome to the amp.

Thanks! once you get to know all the songs, the medley is the best track of the album, i love that stuff. working on a new album right now, only thing left to do is re-record all my guitar tracks. as you can tell from this piece, guitar isn't really my main instrument of choice haha, it's a process though. also i feel like my vocals have been a little more on point lately. i'm stoked you're stoked!

With some work you could make this into a brilliant track. Your feel reminds me of one of the best songwriters here on bandAMP. Takaminerbb13 http://takaminerbb13.bandamp.com/  you will find a lot of his music in the hall of fame located on bandAMP
Have a listen to his work, I think it will open your mind and imagination.
Huge potential my friend.
Keep at it.

part 1

welcome to the amp...

your song is lovely

so nice......do you really want critique??

ok for what its worth

the guitar sound is a bit flat throughout ... well played..in tune ...
but dynamically rubbery sound thats an e.q. thing

the vocals just lack a bit of edge/clarity cut specially in choir bit

i would love some real stereo split of the voices ...man that would be amazing

yep.... as i hear it the stereo picture is all in the middle ...

so use the panning to widen wake this whole track up

move the band around ... add a dimension

I listen on studio monitors  sittin in the middle ... its all in the middle ... move it around a bit

Hey very nice vocal smooth edge gentle and sincere lovely song and really well executed ace.
Not worried about the guitar sound fine to me its all individual
Could be backed with uke or banjo mandolin accordian or london symph etc  no worries as it's  a very cool song .
Good luck with it all thumbs up here

Wow!  This is quite the debut track   I love your vocals and the progress just REALLY REALLY pulls you in!  Post the other tracks too so they'll have their own thread for discussion.  What are you using to record?

First of all.......very very good composition.  Im not a techie.....so I dont know how the hell you laid down all the tracks....mixed em.....refined em.  But seems to me you know what you are doing.

Second....i agree with fishy.....guitar was a bit....um......muffled....like old strings played with no pick.  Yes,  i know it is a matter of preference.....i just would've liked a brighter ring to the strings.  Vocals and lyrics very very good.

But.......i bow in your general gear-head direction....lol....and your obvious creativity!

Very beautiful, very creative.
I also thought the guitar was too 'flat' compared to the 'shinning' vocal, yet it fits and flows superbly.
Very nice lyrics, lovely story well put.
For it to sell though the guitar should be spiced up a bit, a bit more 'oomph' in production.
I want to suggest a 12 string or some other sharper sound but it could indeed be too much considering the over all melancholy, moody feel.
Top marks all the same.

Let us marvel at some more of your stuff ... upload please.

O! and a warm hearty welcome to bandamp ....
