All Youve Got

This song is not in a battle

A little heavier rock, for a change. Guitar, vocals, and lyrics by me.
Drum and bass by my former roommate, Karl Ridgeway.

The first ~2 minutes of this song kind of reveal my earlier punk roots. (Listened to a lot of punk bands in high school.) Then around the middle, breakdown bit I think newer influences (like Tool) start to kick in.

I'm not overly proud of this song's lyrical content, but I think it makes a fun listen. Feedback welcome, as always. If you enjoy this groove I'll post another collab with Karl. (Our stuff is heavier than my solo stuff.)

Lyrics (for those of you who like them):

I wrote it down for you, telling you exactly how I felt.
But you couldn't take the time,
Couldn't stand to lower yourself,
And if I didn't care, why would I be standing here today in this nowhere town?
A voice without a sound..

Your type are all the same, oblivious to others pain.
Well I've called you out.
What do you say?

Wrecked again from all the time I spent with you.
I've lost perspective on the things I really care about.
And if I left right now, what parts of me would you still have?
I need some closure so I won't look back and question myself.

It's such a simple thing to say, such a painful thing to do.

It's the cut that always hurts the most.
I tried, but you really forced my hand.
Just what about this seems acceptable to you?
Is this anyway to treat a friend?
I saw this coming from a mile away.
Really, anyone could have done the same.
How can you expect me to take you seriously when you lied right to my face?

This is the last time I make allowances for you.

I'm all you've got...

Love it ... delicious guitars ... all hail the western way !

Vocal could have been a little rougher/ raunchier , not autotune but some other edge. But then there's always something

Rock on song. Really liked it, yes has more than one perspective, yes is somewhat more complete because of that.

Ooo! Get all your production genius out of the box and give your vocal one last tweak .... a very powerful track, needs more echoes and shit .... like 2:20 ... really space it out make it mean .... and at the end really make it explode into utter evil !!!

Thanks Kings

I'll post one another collab song from Karl and I here shortly. This one will have a little screaming, so you'll get your rougher/raunchier vocals.

if there is anything to comment, Kings pointed it out very well for me,
still as it is I am jumping over my couch here and have nothing more to say then:

YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

ok some nice things,
drums are outrageous, love it!

song has nice 'tension bows' (must be another word for it i don't know, i mean the tension the different parts create), something i like much as you probably already knew :p

your voice works out fine on this type of music, I really like the sound of it in higher regions, i don't have that often..

tomorrow i will play this on the stereo, too late for my neighbors now
post that other track too!

deserves lots of stars, not because it is my genre, it isn't anymore, just great work!

.....uhm..., maybe i would have wanted one more verse, but hey i only heard this for the first ten times, maybe its just good to want more of it..

Thanks Max! m/ Glad you enjoyed it, even though it's not your normal genre. Even more so because of that!

This is another facet of ya wide musical range and experience . Itīs quite a well thought-out heavy rock song
which doesnīt loose its tension or become boring. Just insteresting and various.
Everything is mixed, panned and EQed pretty good.........except for.............dunno how to express............eeeehhmmm..........about the vox...........what īkings` mentioned..........I can understand the text, thatīs ok. Also itīs perfectly sung.
But for some reason it feels to me like a lack of  "the ultimate power / pressure  /  strenght  / liveness  / evil  " ......?????

Apart from that (diffuse reflection    ) itīs a great performance.Again!!

You're stuff has been great so far... this is no exception.
A well thought out, constructed, played, sung, and recorded pop/rock song.
I like the smoother vocals in this and wouldn't want it too rough.
The volume drop around 2:15 has a strange sound - instead of being a drop in the overall dynamics, it sounded like you turned the volumes down, but the return to hard rockin' sounds fine.
That's the only issue for me
Good bit of rocky bop-along music.
Great!

I'm still trying to get used to growling in general, but definitely enjoyed the song and the progression and everything involved in it!

Can't think of any other way to help you with some critisism besides that in my opinion there's too much clear voice and not enough rough parts (as in something between the clear voice and growling, just like Tool.)

Thanks Peter and Jie!

Maynard's got such a great voice. I wish I could better emulate it.
