Apologetic Scientist

This song is not in a battle

Here's another song I recorded last year.  It's my first forray into Science Rock with a little dab of politics.  After hours of vocal tweaks, I'm still not happy with them but I had to take a break from the song.  Let me know what you think...

In the science of matter composition is key
The central science is a crossroads laboratory
A chemical action, purification of me
Experiments on Adam and molecular alpha
Molecular beta, molecular gamma, x-ray

In the study of structure numbers are key
Abstract reasoning, prehistoric theories
A real quantity, the structure of me
Geometric living with natural numbers
Infinite numbers, cardinal numbers can fly

Hey, I'm sorry about the state of our world
But I didn't make it! And I didn't break it!
Hey, I'm sorry about the promises made
But I didn't make them! And I didn't break them!
I'll keep my research and you keep on cryin'

In the study of problems reason is key
From Babylon, Aristotle, and me
The love of wisdom and rationality
Philosophic studies in logic of language
Logic of religion, logic of mind over matter, of course

Hey, I'm sorry about the state of our world
But I didn't make it! And I didn't break it!
Hey, I'm sorry about the promises made
But I didn't make them! And I didn't break them!
I'll keep my research and you keep on cryin'

When I began teaching the students were louder
Departments were divided and the ceilings crashed around
Groundwork cluttered and the reason called in sick
Jupiter had been discovered
I throw my beaker to the chalkboard to get attention
To expel my new frustrations, abominations, and aggravations
A sabbatical from my mind

Let the science books talk

In the study of building structure is key
The golden mean in function, utility
The medieval builder versus contemporary
Form follows function in the building of man
The buildings of man, the buildings of man fall to pieces

Hey, I'm sorry about the state of our world
But I didn't make it! And I didn't break it!
Hey, I'm sorry about the promises made
But I didn't make them! And I didn't break them!
I'll keep my research and you keep on cryin'

Hey, I'm sorry about the state of our world
But I didn't make it! And I didn't break it!

Huuuuuh, that rocks. A steamhammer.              High voltage!!!
Another key is : "music follows feeling". And thatīs what you did here.

Itīs not much I could recomment for improving the mix : Especially the vox cut through and are good understandable, expressive and clear to me.
As Swordie mentioned you can raise up a bit bassdrum and bass. Everything else is fine.
Good job.

Thanks for the good posts.  Sounds like the vocals may not need as much work as I thought.  But the low end could use a boost.

@swordfish   No, I'm not a teacher.  I just pretended to be one for the bridge of this song

Wow that's a weird song! I like the composition, guitar work, the way you did the vocals. I think the lyrics are WAY weird, I've never seen this approach before, took me a while to get used to it but hey in the end it seems to work out well. The mix isn't perfect no, yet suffices still within a standard deviation, so it's cool

Nice instrumentation and a generally groovy song.

Not normally the style of vocals I go for (the whole shouted/spoken word thing) but that's just a preference thing. I was still able to listen and bob along

Something about this tune reminds me of The Presidents Of The United States Of America, blast from the past
