This song is not in a battle

A classic Wayne Shorter composition, played as very free flowing jazz.

Recorded in an empty house, more so as a rehearsal but fun none the less. Minimalist approach in performance and production.

Drums, electric guitar and piano (with simultaneous keyboard bass) all recorded live.

Enjoy.

Very Chilled :P

I could listen to this all night long, really like.

What did you use to record and how? There is quite a noticeable spread amongst the left and right channels.

In my opinion I think the drums should have been a little louder. Or at least the cymbals, the drums are just too much in the background for my liking.

Pretty awesome though!

~How did you do the Bass at the same time - I assume you are a three piece.

Lovely mood setting - it has a feeling of easy life, enjoying the good things, even wealth.

Enjoyed the listen.

Oh and the mix is fine, just how a jazz peice should be

Yep we were a three piece there, bassist couldn't make it to the rehearsal! So played keyboard bass with left hand.

The whole session was recorded onto an 8 track tape machine (only used 5 tracks though) then mixed down to 1/4inch 2 track tape. From there I recorded it onto a Roland 16 track digital workstation to convert it to digital wav files then into cubase where i compressed it and brought the volume up and converted to mp3.
