It’s in the battle 2010-07

This song is completely different than anything I've ever done before. Please tell me what you think. Keep in mind that this is only semi final. I've only done a little bit with eq and mixing and nothing with pan.

Something New

Yesterday you slept in
You missed a class or two
Well I don't think you're lazy
Sometimes I feel a lot like you

I'm tired of doing homework
Seems like all I ever do
guess we have a lot in common
Looks like you need to party too

[Chorus]
Lets do something new
Seems like all we ever do... is the same thing
Lets do something new
Now and the weeks here to... its the same thing
I want to do something new (for || with || to) you.

You laugh and say I'm funny
But you hope its not a joke
Well I won't let you down
so you needn't give up hope

You say lets go to my place
I say it isn't very far
We can have some fun
I'll let you play with my guitar

[Chorus]

You move like your on fire
Have you ever heard this song?
I remember when you got here
You said you wouldn't be here long.

I like the way you smile
It looks good with your clothes
If you keep this up I
might not spend the night alone

It's got potential.
I think you should layer the vox in the chorus and add harmonies in some parts, the drums sound too soft for the piece, you need drums that will drive the rhythm, and perhaps change the Bass in some parts to make it more rhythmic.

The Chorus is great, so yeah with some layers, new drum kit and layers and rhythmic bass, we'll all be all singing along to it.

Keep at it.

Thanks for the input.
I was definitely planning on the harmonies. Better bass and drum lines sounds like a good plan too.

Cool song
Sounds like Billy Joel meats the Waterboys,
I think the drum track needs more attention and as Denis says do something with the bass to make it flow especially where you stop and start it could still 'roll' better.
Like the lyrics too...it's a whole story, it keeps to it's theme, is just enough for the song and again flows rhythmically.

Cool, can relate to the lyrics and as Denis said: the drums! turn them a little up, and make' em harder

I use Ez Drummer, There are many kits to suite all genres, there are many preset rhythms, but you can also create your own. I use it with FL, but it works on many other software.

Best keep it simple first, work on the Bass drum and snare, then hi-hat/cymbals & finally fills. Personally it is just as important to get the right sounding kit, at the correct velocity, as it is creating a good rhythm to suite the music.

I like the combination of the very real sounding piano and the synthesized drums.
The only instrument I am missing is a 12 string strumming guitar

I'm checking out EZ Drummer.
What would other people recommend? Also Triton were you being serious or sarcastic? I can't tell.

well I mean it... in the past we had other members where I've been sarcastic.

Again... I am missing a 12 string and by listening for the 12th time... what about a backing girl choir?

and it's a good track, even the voice

guess you are fishing OFF compliments right? --- this is sarcastic

What happened to bandamp?
When I first joined like 5 years ago probably 20 songs or more got uploaded every day. Now somehow over a week later my song is still in the recently uploaded list. I really like bandamp I wish more people used it still.

This is really cool I really like your voice and the style of this track. totally rockin out track.
I agree about what you say about wishing more people still used bandamp, but I think and I hope that these new The AMP Vol 1 and 2 and hopefully moer albums that are being released will add some traffic to the site.

Great song man!

This is great... I love it.
I'm with TK with the mix of synth drums but acoustic sounding piano.  But I'm not listening for a 12 string - I think it's spot on.
Vocals all good
Instrumentation, great.
Composition - excellent.

As I said, I love it
