I Remember The Day(J.F.K.1963)
*
This is the placeholder for a new MP3 player

This song is not in a battle

Hi everyone. I haven't posted anything new for awhile or been on Bandamp. Christmas is around the corner and I'll be posting some of the Christmas songs, or song, that I have. I'll probably just re-work what I have since my computer has been on the blink which makes it difficult to record anything

It was 48 year's ago today that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. I thought I would add the video version of the song. There are mentions of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King in the lyrics/song, also

It's a slightly different version then the one on the Bandamp player. There aren't any keyboards. That's the only difference.

"I Remember The Day"

Verse 1
It was 1963
I was seven
going to church
and learning
the Ten
Commandments

Verse2
it was a November day
we all bowed our heads
to pray
I remember it
like it was
yesterday

Chorus:
I heard the Angels
singing
glory glory
alleluia
glory glory
alleluia

Verse 3
now
the lights are
dimming low
all the schools are
closing down
I had a short a walk
I stopped and cried
before I got home

Chorus:
I heard the Angels
singing
glory glory
alleluia
glory glory
alleluia
Instrumental

Bridge

Chorus:
I heard the Angels
singing
glory glory
alleluia
glory glory
alleluia

Verse 4
I hear The Angels sing for
Martin Luther King
and Bobby
glory glory
alleluia

Verse 5
Oh,you ask me
Yeah, you ask me
if I remember the day
I remember the day
we lost
JFK

End:
glory glory
alleluia
glory glory
alleluia
I hear The Angels sing for
Martin Luther King
and Bobby
glory glory
alleluia

haven't heard a flyer song for a while but it still retains that unique style

Really like the chord progression, although I don't get the strings, the arrangement is baffling to me. I think it might work better if it was an organ sound (some of it sounds like it should be played on organ rather than strings.).

Just an idea

Old Rock and Roll from an old Rock and Roll soul
You do have your own distinctive style.
This is so delicate......very soft to the touch...the keyboard is a bit distant...otherwise very soulful.

If you would only stop dropping the vocal at the end of the line and keep your note just a second or two longer, till the end of the word, your vocal would be more flowing imho.

Thanks for the comment. I was going to post this song as an acoustic only. I do like the idea of recording a version with just the keys...

Kings..
I wanted to keep the keys at a distance. I thought that might be a better idea for this song. I have to remember that about the vocals. You always tell me to hold the note a little bit longer and I always forget to do it..lol...I'll be sure to hold the notes a little bit longer on the next song

TK...
Thanks. Its good to be back. I use a few different programs to record. I usually record with Audacity then program the song with Kristal, Wave pad, Cool edit or/and Acoustica. I know that my recordings aren't the best quality wise.
But, I hope the listeners can look past it and try to take in the song as far as the meaning to it and what I'm trying to say and get across

Thanks guys for the comments

I agree about the strings; they don't fit much. I think an organ would sound perfect. A smooth hammond sound.
I would also like a more crispy sound on the guitar, but that's maybe a matter of taste.
Emotive song. Well done.

You deserve a new title, Flyer - you sure are the Master of Melancholy! ..

Although melancholy isn't an emotion I find myself willfully turning to, if you know what I mean, you seem to be doing a great job at writing these songs... So good rating on that behalf.

There's always production issues however, although much improved from your earlier recordings... must keep working on it!

cheers for now!

A mellow ode to some American heroes. Very well done. I like that it was kept simple instrumentally and the lyrics were well done as well. This lyric could have been overdone easily with too much story etc. Seeing as how almost everyone who hasn't lived in a box already know the stories, it is much better being left out.

Great job Ralph!

Cheers

Thanks PX for the comment and for listening to the song. I'll be doing a version with keys only. I'm going to make it more of an upbeat tune.

Thanks for the comment and for listening to the song. Nice to see that you noticed I tried to keep it as simple as possible with the lyrics. Sometimes, less is more.

Hi Fish...It was a sad time in History. I tried to carry that feeling over in the song. Yes, I'm doing a different version that is going to more on the upbeat side of things..Thanks for the comment John
