Lost in Huda Demo GP5
In collaboration with: thebigguyconnor

This is the placeholder for a new MP3 player

This song is not in a battle

Well as some of you may know I wont have access to recording gear for like 7 months, so me and my cousin have been hard at work trying to compose songs that we can just start recording when I get back to my house.
This song is going to be one of the "mini epics" on our album Lost in Huda (its a title track you see...)
Its all midi. We tabbed it all out in Guitar Pro 5. We can't wait to record it.

Theres gonna be a solo or two in there but we just didn't tab it out. Also there will be lyrics which I am working on writing. Also I hope it won't sound as gay cause it won't be midi.

When we do record it:
Me: Bass, Guitar, Vox
My Cousin: Drums, Guitar, Vox
My brother: keyboard/piano

edit: when reviewing since we arent playing any of the instruments just make comments on the composition itself...thats why I uploaded it. so we could see what we could do with the composition.

EDIT: Connor (my cousin, thebigguyconnor) wrote all of this song and we are going to be recording new songs very soon.

A bit MIDI-y sounding, but I can imagine this sounding great with proper instruments/vocals taking over. Not sure what else I should say, but it seems like you have something to build on!

Well, it's hard to get the idea without lyrics or solos basically because it can get monotonous at some point.
Although I can hear some nice passages and chord progression, even a bit jazzy, which is cool.
I'd add more dynamism to the keyboard, to give it a "fatter" sound (I guess I'm always looking for a fatter sound). Making more interesting arrangements on it it would help a lot. Mainly because most of the time the guitar is just rhythmic instead of lead (not in a solo way) so if you make some cool stuff in the organ/piano/synth you can make this more interesting. Sometimes the fun is in the little details.
Anyway, I guess I'll give this a listen later so I can come up with some more ideas but I'm pretty sure this has potential.

Yeah you gotta keep at man, Ok it's midi, but it'll keep your music energy flowing, so in 7 months time you can get back on it more easier. Did you pack your acoustic with you? keep practising!!

I'm sure all your efforts will be worth it.

Hey thanks for listening you guys. especially cause its just some lame-o piece of crap midi thing of something that could be epic. i do appreciate it and all the help and suggestions u have offered.

Yeah Iz we're gonna have some crazy awesome stuff going on the keyboard (fatter sounds and all) when we record it.

We're hard at it trying to compose and whatnot so Im sure we can only get better from here...or maybe theres pride before a fall...or soemthing...
Yeah I have my acoustic with me. thats all I got and im practicing like crazy and im so happy cause I just learned the majority of the acoustic parts of Dogs by Pink Floyd...one of my favorite songs that I was never able to play with all of the epicness until recently. either im getting better or the song somehow became easier...

thanks for the reviews!!

I really enjoyed the shift at 1:04.
At 2:38 I can really envision some thick harmonies.
At 3:39 I believe it should have some kind of melody accompanying the basic chords like what you have going on at 4:44.

5:01 to 5:54 is my personal favorite section, the bass lick behind it is super funky.

Its a pretty interesting composition overall, now just throw the midi out the window and grab some real instruments ha.

Hey it's pretty cool to put a demo down like this, with midi.. hehe makes for a really retro sound like, like early soundblaster gaming days

I can imagine what this would sound like with real instruments. So far seems like a feasible composition. Hmm good luck with it I suppose !
