Terestrial Planeteer
*
Score: 69.1%
Rank: 12th
Battle: 2005-08

Terrestrial Planeteer (Celestial Sphere) is the name of the song. It was too long to put in the Title bar. here's the lyrics.  ps. I was in an astronomy class when we wrote it.

sometimes I think of the universe and everything in
staring from Olympus Mons on the great big red planet
and my significance comes in contrast with my size
I can't think/ of the end/ when we're just
starting to think
and understand/ comprehend/
what's with life
and the common man
Circumscribe lunar year
Another chance to disappear

It is growing cold
I feel like I'm growin old
na na na
na na na

I tried to feel jovian but I'm stuck 3 rocks from the sun
hydrogen, helium, it's a lot to overcome
on the moon - maria, lay the darkened area
I'd trade this ball for basalt just to be a part of it all
take a ride to the north, to the star of the virgin birth
it will guide, you by sea, take a sip, primordial tea

it is growing cold
I feel like I'm growing old
to young to be so bold
to old to be sold

nananna

terrestrial planeteer
take a ride - celestial sphere
on the moon - maria, lay the darkened area
and venus, the devil sun, it's vapors could kill anyone

nanana

I forgot. This song won "Best Beat" in Indie Rock on garageband.com, the only real thing we ever won. A friend just told me she gave a copy of our disc to Matt Hollywood of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, so I am quite pleased.

ooooh a 65%, that stings

this style of music is completely unoriginal... but i shouldn't start on a bad note, this sounds like stuff they would play on the radio and when you flick through the stations you bump into it again on another station. Sounds like Dave Matthews band (thats the first band i can think of right now that you sound like) but believe me theres alot more

Eww Dave Matthews.. really? I should hope not. I hope we don't sound like that, but if you think so, that must be the case. I listened to your tracks. ummmmmm. Is all I can say. Here's to unoriginality.

You have the groove going and working for you. It's not really revolutionary, but what is nowadays. It sounds good, too.
Now for something constructive that you can actually use for something, if you want of course. I think the sound that you have following the melody is a bit to sharp in it's sound. I like the contrast between the hard beat and the lazy vocals. Watch out for the pitch/tuning problems (the guitar in the left ear that has it's entrance in the chorus).

P.s. this is far from Dave Matthews.

Groovesearcher Glad you agree it does not sound like DMB. It does in that we both use acoustic guitars, but that's about it. Glad you got the vibe. Yeah that is an oboe in the song run through a filter. I just loved the sound, it might grow on yah.

SRX thanks for stopping in. it's not a synth, it's an oboe that was manipulated... so kind of a synth I guess. cheers

martin28b thanks a lot.

Fun song.  I like your vocals.  They complement the bouncy instrumentals well.

Cool bouncy song...I liked it. Felt the drums sounded a little harsh and the guitars were a little quiet...only criticisim i can think of really. And the clean guitar that comes it on the right hand side for the chorus sounds plain ugly.

Great track overall, its catchy!

The lyrics could be more clear. The keyboard has to go. Good beat. Very creative. Love the drum sounds! Think it could use a heavy guitar track.

Chill said: this style of music is completely unoriginal... but i shouldn't start on a bad note

so then don't... freakin eat your own words why don't you

Chill, you are young pissed off and inexperienced... this sounds absolutely nothing like DMB

Just because DMB has a song where Carter Beuford plays a march, you hear a march and call it DMB.

Get some ears and then come back.

As for the actual song

"hydrogen, helium, it's a lot to overcome
I'd trade this ball for basalt just to be a part of it all"

i liked those lines

not wild about the voice but it's a rather intelligent song... pretty good

Gotta give it up to you for writing a song about the cosmos.  Anyone who says you sound unoriginal or like a bunch of other bands i will challenge to find any of those bands singing about something other than love cliches' or how depressing it is to be a teenager.
