Not bad for your first attempt.

I just think you tried TOO Hard. The timing of the echo is a bit out, there is a formula to work that out, from my memory 'Toastedgoat' has it, I'm sure he would help out.

As an idea just try a simple gruve with a nice bass riff, then dub here and there with some effects.

It's very very hard to get the right sound on the drums for this style, but then you can create your own, nothing wrong with that. I think you had the mic's too close to the cymbols, and mic up the bass drum if you have enough mics.

I hope my comments doesn't sound too harsh, I know for a fact that his style of music is not as easy as everybody thinks!!
