You To Denis!

Cheers for this, it's a pleasure just letting it play !

I'm sure there's a few albums in you're collection by now?

Could you not distribute them as torrents , just post the URL to the torrent at all the music sites you visit ???

It's all me, overdubed obviously.

Guitar.

First off new set of strings.
Shure sm57 about a foot away pointing at the start of fret board
AKG1000s condensor mic positioned half way down the neck about 18 inches
Panned hard left and right
Very little adjustment in eq 1.5dB's on highs and minus 1.5dB's on the lows
Little compression just enough so that you hear it kick in
Hall reverb/syphonic [syphonic is like chorus] not too much again

Sax

New reed
AKG1000's condensor mic positioned above the bell half way the lenght of instrument pointing towards the mouthpiece.
Little compression
Same reverb as guitar but less of, plus echo[ be careful too much and it's horrible] just enough so it fattens-up

Both recorded via an ART gold tube preamp through to a Yamaha AW1600g workstation.

Then masterd the whole thing using Adobe audition 1.5 using noise reduction, pan/expander and finaly noise limiter, boosting up by 6dB's

Hope that all makes sence.
Anybody want some tips on recording live stuff, PM me, I'll tell you what I know

Cheers

Denis

What a crisp production, and a really sweet and soothing style. Lots of clarity and warmth, very enjoyable! Thanks for sharing your recording setup. Very nice!

very professional and a nice performing
Its a long time until the sax joins the tune
imo I would mix less reverb to the guitar
on the other hand this is your style to present your main instrument

btw just having a ppmt tea

*edit
give the sax a contrary melody to the guitar or play the same theme

To tell you the truth, I was going to play the sax all the way through, but I couldn't do it.. LOL..
There are many key changes, being that I'm new to the instrument, it will take me a long time to learn, not that I don't want to, just don't want to put myself under stress, it will happen in time. I'm pleased with my progress on the sax, since I've only been playing it since June 08. Also The sax you must must practice everyday, I get about 15 Min's to half an hour/day, which is enough, I think another six months and I will be able to do the whole song or others like it, either that or could record in stages, but I'm not one for cheating, plus it ruins the feel.

I could put a whole orchestra arrangement into it if I had the tools, hmmmm one day...... one day.....Now that's big stress, maybe when I retire, I'll have all the time in the world. I dream that everyday.

Thanks for your comments, they are well noted, with which I agree wholeheartedly, except the reverb ha ha

Cheers

Denis

this feels like Christmas morning, just waking up, sun peeking in, shining through snowflakes stuck to the window latch, and you rub your eyes to sleepily looking out over a glistening blanket of snow...

to me, when a song can transport you like this -- that's all it's about...
