Expectations

This song is not in a battle

I was trying to write something faster and meaner than my other stuff, and I don't think it turned out very well. The guitar is using a patch I made, and I think I put way too much flanger on it. I don't know.

Lyrics:
VERSE1
These expectations impossible to meet
It’s hard when you fall to land on your feet
But everybody wants you to
Be something more than you can be
It seems rather stupid to be ideal
Such things are impossible, not even real
But everybody wants you to
Be something better than you’ll ever be

CHORUS

I don’t pretend
To be
Something more than me
Than me
I don’t pretend
To be
Something more than me
Than me

VERSE 2
You cannot force me
To do what you want
You cannot move me
I’m lazy as a rock
I’d rather just
Sit alone by myself
And do nothing
I’m going nowhere
And that’s okay
I’ve got no future
Just living today
But everybody wants me to
Do something more than I want to  do

B SECTION
Maybe I don’t want to be anyone
Maybe I don’t want to be anyone
Maybe I don’t want to do anything
Maybe I don’t want to do anything

CHORUS

The guitar parts go really well with your vocals. I also like the background vocals during the chorus, it's a nice touch. Your voice is so different. You've got a very distinctive singing style. I like it a lot.

Is that a drum machine? Meh...it sounds very constrained.

This is another good song. well structured. I think that the drums are the major issue in this song. You need to bring them up in the mix, and possibly double time them. I like the toms at 1.58, they sound cool, but still too queit.

I don't think the guitar has too much flanger. If anything, its got a little too much distortion.

All in all, a very cool song

I can't bring the drums up without clipping them, sadly. Currently every bass beat and and snare hit causes my "peak" meter to blink. I suppose I could just lower everything else, and then maximize the entire mix afterwards.

hmm
Most definitely heavier than your previous stuff...  I might also say that I agree with the volume of the drums.. I think your suggestion is the best, lower everything els, get the mix right, then bring it up from there... I think the synth is a nice touch too... It's kind of like The Cars meet Ozzy...  Very interesting work...  Yeah, the drums are surely not humanized enough(or the drummer has some issues with perfection).. But that's ok... Around here, that's the name of the game... Noone can afford the time it takes to domesticate a drummer, and get them potty trained.. hehe
