Reggea Funkin Metal(funky metal junkie V2)
*

This song is not in a battle

i changed a few thousand notes, cut out a few parts(one i regret), added clean guitars, and remixed.
+added some melody as Marino said,
+also reworked bass as Denis suggested, hope i did right, (tell me if i missed your point pls)

maybe it aint much of a song, but it is enjoyable as a piece of music i hope ?

I don't understand where the metal comes in....? Or really even the funk. It seems more like synth rock with some spanish touches on it.

Your "Explosive chorus" is muddy to my headphones.

So I don't know how to gauge waht you were aiming for...

Hey,

I like how it changes from the chill reggae-like part to the darker one....  but i honestly can't stand that lead synth, sounds thin and it's eq'd to high, at least for my taste, not to mention it doesn't go along with the reggae feel.

I do think this could be awsome though, if you could turn it into a more "organic" piece, cause you're trying to blend toghether two styles that don't go well with MIDI

I hope this is a work in progress because i'd like to hear a version with more dynimics soon.

Nice drum patterns on the metal part BTW.

Cheers.

Dark, it didnt know what to aim for myself, i just started a piece with the mididrums and i ended up here :p
so, if u think its synth rock, it is synth rock, i just thought it had some elements of the styles i mentioned.
you were right about the muddyness, that is taken care of by now.

Aetheris, i did find that synth a bit too loud in tthe mix too and i tweaked the eq a bit, but to be honest i like those cheap sounds, actually the organ i use here is called 'cheapo' too lol.

about blending the 2 styles u gave me more food for thought  (TNX!!! ) since i had some troubles there myself, after i did add some organic parts, (clean guitars)  i seem to become further away from any cohesiveness....

so,  i think i have to choose, and make a song in one style somehow...

So long as your enjoying it Max, that's all that matters!!!

Can't remember the difference in the Bass to be honest, but I still like the tone of the bass.

The only thing I would change is the mix and EQ, perhaps have a warmer rounded tone if you can achieve it,
This would give it a more of a reggae feel, but keep the high hat and rhythm guitar at same pitch.

Super.

well coming from you as reggea specialist, much apreciated, tnx
indeed I lost the reggea out of sight, i made a judgement mistake, 2nd part of the song already became a song on it self, next i hope to make a reggea song of the first part of this piece

like to hear what u mean exactly by comparing to the Selecter, if i remember well that was the band who made 'on my radio'? and they seem to have a song called the 'selector'? I dont know that one, love to hear your version!!!!!!!

I'm not a fan of synthesizers in reggae but it's missing a smooth bass line to be real reggae. but thats the compromise you make when trying to fuse stuff.
