wow, this is pro stuff minds.
this track is really well constructed, and the attention to detail is astounding, must've taken hours. i like how you play with the resolution of the sound. How do you do that on FL anyway? have you got a real time midi controller to do it, or is it all done with mouse clicks?
great song

Thanks guys! Its been a bit, eh'? Work has been keeping me busy but, after about a month away from music and finally about a day and a half of break from work, i thought I better sit down and take advantage of the down time. Here is the result. Thanks so much for the great comments.
Marino - Its always means alot to hear you dig what im doing, coming from such a master as yourself. There are a few more things I wanna do with this track.. Mainly eq stuff and perfecting some of the sweeps and filter work.
Toast - Thanks man! I was lucky that I really didnt have to go crazy on the eq. In comparison with some of my other tracks this one eq'd really well to my ear and so I got to spend alot less time playing with that aspect. The sounds were all really working well together.. I still want to add a bit more tasteful bottom end though.
Meow - Thanks for the wb! Its been awhile, I know, but i feel it did me some good. It was almost a full month that i didnt open FL and when I finally was able I was bursting with drive instead of reaching for inspiration. I feel like this has a more mature and full sound to it and hope to keep it up. Maybe more breaks in between?
Ralph - Thanks buddy! It means alot. You know what I think of you to, man. You are a Great American Songwriter in my book! I would really love to hear about your experiences in the studio. You should be documenting this anyway....someday you'll be famous!
SirBorris - Thanks man! It did take hours! and all at once I might add! (for the most part). As far as about the resolution on the track. What I did was add 3 or 4 filters on different aspects of the track and then automated those.. playing with the dynamics as the track progresses. I do have a midi controller but I mainly use that for plucking out melodies or playing out ideas. All of this was done within FL itself. Just a lot of automation and filters and such.

I honestly can't come up with the words to say what I think....
SO I shall say it with a picture....

truly awesome... yes I think the use of stereo is clever and the synth sounds are as ever well produced and well layered.
for me the drums are little monaural for my tastes in that they are very central and it would be nice to maybe have some trippy percussion to go along with the wide synths. in all though the percussion sounds chosen are awesome, maybe a bit more balls needed for the kick tho.
still, a great composition and a crisp clear master. nice work

Enjoy this trip.......And it is a trip..............
Ooo! Minds this is BIG, like BIG big.
So finally the machine has it's say! Absolutly amazing.......use of samples?....or mastering of instruments?
That you were of the nervous disposition I'd imagined, but for someone to 'build up' SO much 'kinetic' energy and then come up with this.......that's a lot of energy dude!!!
Lucky I downloaded all your songs before you wasted them from bandAmp. lol
What about sampled vowels ?
So you having any luck with your stuff on other sites?
Because this is one you just cant ignore!
Jim: I dont get Buckwheat !!! How does this track make you feel small, black and stupid going "O-TAY"???!!!
Does it not make you revel in the God-Head that you are ??!!
O! And a happy new ear.

If I am being honest, the first minute and 1:37 did absolutely nothing for me. It was a great technical demonstration of FL and your knowledge of the darkest secrets of the package, yes, but aurally, I was underwhelmed.
At 1:57 when the main "theme" busted out, I smiled. That was awesome. The samples running in the background towards the middle of the third minute really added to the bass. The piece here has dynamism. The break at the start of the fourth minute was very classy. I was expecting it to lapse into the intro again, but you caught me with my pants down and brought back the main beat.
The use of samples is incredible. You truly inspire almost everything I have done in FL. A true wizard. The mix and EQ are your best, hands down. All the little subtleties that I felt you used to struggle with before are all gone now, and by your own word, this seems to be coming naturally for you. I think it's partially the fact that you didn't have to think about the music; it just came. I'd be surprised if it was any different for others, but for me personally, my best work comes when I don't sit down and think about it.
You've got a whole new repertoire of sounds here---new instruments and patches I don't think I've heard before. They are excellent. Again, the use of the stereo space is very involved technically and you've done it wonderfully. A word of warning: this sounded miserable on my laptop speakers and my desktop speakers: the soundscape was muddied from pans too far left and right. This isn't a flaw with your work as much as it is with the standard consumer speaker setup. It sounded wonderful on my headphones and my high-end music system, but you should be wary of a mix/master that doesn't sound right on something mid-range. It's a slippery slope to design music solely for studio monitors.
Bottom line is that you know your shit. I knew that and you knew that. Composition-wise, I thought this was a little weak structurally, but you really brought it out when it mattered.
Glad you're back amongst us mortals, and hit me up someday on IM. Happy new year!

Hey Minds nice to see you back.
I like the versitality of the arrangement, there is always something new.
For some reason [could be the drum track] I could see you and Devo doing a great collab together.
As it stands it would make a great 'Soundtrack'.
Cheers

Thanks for the great feed, guys!
Avi, Im not suprised that you dont get or appreciate the intro. Im suprised many times that my stuff is appreciated at all on this site. My stuff goes over much better on other genre specific sites. Having said that, I appreciate what you put into the review. I hear your warning about mixing to other setups.. I need to get another speaker setup, like some desktop speakers so I can A - B them. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!!
Denis, Ive actually tried to talk Devo into a collab once or twice.. but at the time his pc was down and he's a busy guy. Would be interesting to see how it would come out though.
Devo, I always anticipate your review. Knowing that you actually listen to this stuff for pleasure, makes what you say carry a bit more weight. Thanks for noticing the details and new techniques.. Im getting there.
