Childhood Dreams
*

This song is not in a battle

Hey BA community. This is my first posting of my band - unnamed as of now. It's an acoustic piece, I hope you like it.

Childhood Dreams

Remember when we were kids
Our lives just seemed so beautiful
Remember back in the day
We'd never thought we'd get this old
The things we had in mind
The plans we made for when
Everything was to become so different, different

But now
We still run around like we are five
We're running in circles around our lives
We're still running out of time

Remember you held my hand
As we walked through this cold world
Remember all our tales
They will always be untold
I wonder where you are
I wish that I could still be be
Everywhere, yes, Anywhere with you, with me

And now
We still run around like we are five
We're running in circles around our lives
We're still running out of time

And I
I still run around like I am five
I'm running in circles around my life
I'm still running out of time

If you could be with me
I'd tell you all the ways
This world's abused me
I'm sorry I have to say

If I could have more time
I know I'd walk the days
Wishing my life away
Wishing my life away

Still run around like we are five
We're running in circles around our lives
We're still running out of time

well,
it has good composition.. and it has
a kewl message with the lyrics...
recording issues are few, due to how
it was recorded.. but that in no way
takes away from the song..
It has that greenwich village  park
feel..
 there is room for improvement..

blessings,

Dan

p.s. another rose for the collection..
gonna have that bass drum head
filled up at this rate..

A few recording problems, like some distortion with the guitar around :40 and 1:36, but as Blueyes said, it doesn't take away from the song. Really good concepts, it's really catchy, I like the lyrics as well.

Needs work - good song
I enjoyed the switch to fingerstyle at the bridge. This could have benefited from another few hours of practice before posting. This is no way detracts from overall composition. I feel this needs to be strengthened at the low end. If other instruments are added, esp. Bass guitar the hollow sound will vanish. Again, this all seems to be about this one being almost ready. I would enjoy hearing cleaned up version. Have you considered vocal harmony, say a maj. third above (or 5th below) the melody during the chorus?

Blue: Hey Dan, thanks for the comments. The recording is a little lacking due to the fact that this was the first run we did before we had to pack it all up due to summer (recorded in college dorms).

BackwardsHat: Happy to hear you find it to be catchy - I was really tired of doing songs where I felt I was whining into the mic, so I was hoping this would take away from it. Although this isn't our first song, this is the one we are most proud of at the moment.

Stringbreaker: I'm sure my guitarist will be happy to hear your comments. This song is not yet completed as a final version, but all the elements are already in there - and like you said, just needs to be cleaned up. In regards to the vocal harmony - when I played this song to myself and while it was in concept, I really didn't see any areas where I can put another voice in. I will take your advice into account, but I have yet to have any successes with vocal harmonies because in the end, it sounds really creepy having me on top of me. Unfortunately, the rest of the band isn't very into vocalizing their music.

It was supposed to be an acoustic only song - but I will try to write up a bass line for it to look at different possibilities.

Thanks for all your comments!
Joe.
