Can I Still Rock
*
We recieved a challange to write a song
about writing a song.. well I had all of this
writen and planned out in about five minutes..
but after another long frustrating, pain staking
hassle with tryin to get the computer straightened
out, I did this..  by the time I got to the keyboard
and vocal tracks I was fed up..  so here it is!!

The Lyrics
(in case anyone cares!)

Can I still Rock

Can I still rock,

can I still roll,

can I still write about

what I feel in my soul..

if I don't get it down now,

It will never be whole..

so I'm writing this song

about writing like I've been told..

vrs,

it's just a little number,

bout how this is done..

with the turn of a verse they tell me

I'm the talented one..

so I scribe down the words,

it's just like a cheer.

I know I'll forever sing them,

so all can hear...

hmm
sounds better than the first time you uploaded it...  Sounds like you were able to clean it upa bit..

vocals still sound a bit dry and lacking..  Need some spicing up I think...  But overall it does the job...

This is pretty cool...   Pretty neat lyrics...  The piano is cool...

Bro!!
Thanks!! you're kind!!  yea you're right,
I should've put some reverb, and chorus
on the vocals, as well as added a gate...
but by that point I was about in tears from
the stuttering and sputterings of the tracks
and how they kept throwing the other's off!!

Yea I would have done that piano lick to
near perfection if I had not already gotten
to the point I was so damned frustrated!!!
when ever I do a lead on piano, I will have
already practiced it to the point of being
able to do it with my two club feet!!! lol..
but I was just so over it... the lyrics, well
hey it was a song about writing a song ya know??

blessings,

Blue

A valiant attempt!
The frustration, as well as the goal shines through in this track. No complaints about the instrumentation. Somehow even the synchronization problems lend to it. I suspect that a full cleaned-up version in a studio wouldn't reflect the struggle of composition nearly as well. You can, and obviously do still rock!

The dissonance towards the end is a great touch. I think the lyrics are pretty well written, thinking of the challenge, I wouldn't know what to write about or where to start.

Great job!

The playing, timing and recording issues aside, your musicianship and songwriting can't be faulted.  The lyrics are nice.  The song is about 15 or 20 bpm too slow for me.  The weakest part of the track was the end of the piano solo---the track is too slow for that last run.  Good stuff.  Let's hope you can get your setup fixed eventually to sort out---at the bare minimum---the latency issues.

yep there appears some latency issues between the instruments, but that said the construction is really nice, and the lyrics are - well - I find the subject of this challenge actually as corny as corny can get really - but you got away with writing a set of lyrics that are not corny at all. You obviously have experience writing lyrics, really well done.

I'm rolling here:P
Pull me a chair,
Behind my desk,
Listening to this,
I'm getting your vibe,
And type on,
Sesamestreet document,
Elmo could sing this:)
Great!
