It’s in the battle 2007-07

Wow! Haven't been on here for aages.

This is a song that's gone through many a change! Started out as a reggae piece, for my GCSE music. Then, i sped it up, and added a guitar solo, and handed it in for my As composition, but that got a crap mark. So, i redid it, and this is what i came up with!

Thank-you! My Mum cut it for me!

The song used to be in G-major before, which didn't work, cos' the lyrics are all about homeless people, so, about a week before the hand-in date, i had a sudden impulse to change it to minor, and came out with this. I am pleased with it!

You'd get on well with 'Wisdom' ! lol
Yea hair's cool, cool mum!
It's not my type of music at all but I think it is very well made just the same.
Really like the chorus, lovely feeling, like the stop...start.
Now that I've heard it all, it's the reggae I'm not into.
But I compliment you on a good song well made never the less!

The overall feel has a great fun vib which I like much.

The main thing that I would have changed is the bass drum sound, the tone is muffeled.

I really like the reggae/ska sound.  It does sound a little muffled, but on the whole great.  With what you are saying in this song, I could stand to hear a little more edge in the voice. It can have almost a sarcastic or more (angered?) wild vibe and still be perceived as fun. and not too heavy.

Great work!

See VK's post for what I think about the vocals.

Love the Ska sound.  The recording is a little clashed with itself--leads to that muffle.  EQ each track separately.

Cheers guys! It's sometimes to do drums, cos' i play an electric kit; A Yamaha DTXpress 2. I always think when i'm listening to lots of different songs, that you can't hear the bass-drum, so i tend to overcompensate. I'm gonna take some time, over the summer, to better my EQ skills, cos' i haven't got a clue!

Don't know what to do about the singing. Apparantly i sound bored when i sing, so i try sing more lively, but still end up sounding bored. Any tips on singing well?

OWYEAAAAAAAAAAH!
Hell Yeah I love this !! :D:D

Punk/Ska/Reggae, it's all there in the song...very nice mix!

Your vocals fit the style completely in my opinion...it's just a matter of singing convincing i think..

Actually no very critic points here (and some have already been said)

your style is so close to the style i'm working to...

we should do a collab one day man!

Greetings!

love the reggae/ punk sound, very fun. youre voice is loud enough in the mix, it just needs more 'emotion' . im no vocalist though so i wouldnt be able to give any advice.

btw, i like the name, got a great ring to it. reminds me of captainbeefheart

Your singing it's great for that style. In Croatia we had a boom of this style in eighties. I like the bass line. Keep up
