Problems |
Been a long time since I've posted on here, so I thought I'd give it another shot.
I think I've moved on a lot since my earlier recordings... comments appreciated =)
I recorded all the parts myself bar the drums.. generic drum machine for them, I don't have the setup to record drums well
Thanks.
EDIT: Sorry about the fact it's a little quiet, I think I slid the master fader down a little far..
Apologies.

Problems? |
Yes it's low!
Yes I think the guitar, drums and vocal could be balanced out better in the mix.
Yes you should put more harmonies in there.
And Yes what a really cool song!!!
If you were to do this in a studio I think you'd have a very serious demo on your hands, if not a 'hit', though 'hit' is indeed a big word.
I think you should play with/emphasize the 'catchiness' of it!

Thanks for the advice
Just a few questions...
Your comments on the Vox - I totally agree with you, they just seem a little... flimsy, I don't know why though. What would you suggest? Improvement in singing style? Effects? EQ? Volume?
Nice to know it's catchy, anyway. I spend so long writing/recording a song, by the end of it I've forgotten what draws me to it in the first place

Kings is right |
Like kings said before me the guitar drums vocals should all be turned up alittle more (actually allot) I really like this song its awesome!!! I love there lyrics to its almost like progressive rock type stuff its really nice if you happen to have the tab sitting around i would love to have it
Aaa! Vocal production questions!!! I have a million of my own!
As to your question, I think Kine has a point, like you said 'Improvement in singing style?', maybe be a bit more 'sarky' about it?? I denno?
"Now you take the bate..." with a little bit more 'shove it in their face!!!' LOL! Maybe?
You do sing it a little on the soft side!
My problem is, is that I like it!
To be honest I would also look towards EQ, Reverb, Effects.
In what program do you edit your audio?
You could try the 'two tracks milliseconds out of sinc' chorusy effect?
You could cut and paste bits to be effected on to another track?
Like with the harmonies use a Modulation-Delay, I just happen to love it! lol
I've got into putting my vocals through GuitarRig2, in the belief that I can add the most wonderful textures to my words!

Hmmm, alright, got it!
I used.. Cubasis 5, because it was cheap off Ebay
As for the vocal style; thanks, I'll take that into account. I think I'm definitely going to go for more oomph in my next song.. I messed this one up a little; I wrote/recorded the instruments without ever thinking about the vocals, and after listening to it realised that it was a fair bit higher than what I'm comfortable singing with.
Will try messing around with the chorus effect a little more.

My fifty two cents worth... |
if you remix this, no matter what you do,
Do Not let the instrumental tracks over
power the vocals keep them above the rest
no matter what!!! hey I told you in chat, I
like it.. and lyrics are good!! if you think you
could do better, then do it.. when you are
sure, you will know.. I for one think it's
very good work... but understand the personal
frustrations of being a perfectionist at the
same time as being a musician!
