Do you miss bandamp?
Me too. But it feels gone.

I have done my best to recreate this kind of community in a private group on Facebook. We have monthly "battles" - -but they're not competitive, just each month we have a "Release day" where we listen to each other's song for that month and provide feedback.

Over the last year we've released nine compilations of our stuff on bandCamp (not to be confused with bandAmp ) and I'd feel honored if some of the old faces from bandamp joined too.

The group is here -- just put "bandamp" in the question about where you heard of the group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/243569247441277

And if you're interested, we've released stuff here:

Bandamp is in a resting state, I'm sure all the members that have posted on here before are still with us, we've all got older and probably like me not had time to create any new material. But, I'll be retiring in about 3 and a half years time and will no doubt be creating music again.

We need some young blood injected to Bandamp and the only way that's going to happen is if someone with enough passion promotes it and indeed updates the site.

Long live Bandamp!

Yeah, some of us were young babies back when our European friends ran a meet-up.  Maybe we should do more of those when the time is right?  My work ends up hosted on https://soundcloud.com/tiliv but I try to share the weird ones here

Let me say something
I believe that the search for reproduction of one's own music is more important for many people on contemporary platforms.
This is how people come together apart from BandAmp.
I see the same thing on WhatsApp and many other messenger platforms. Suddenly Telegram is somehow better positioned because it has a new interface and perhaps more options that you don't always use. And then suddenly you are no longer part of a community unless you change the platform yourself.
You definitely want to be there where a lot of people meet. This is human nature, including the original BandAmpers. Old habits (like BandAmp) are then no longer observed. Only what is new and fresh counts.
Other websites have great mechanisms and algorithms that keep users constantly on their toes.
BandAmp doesn't have any of that. It's simple, but unfortunately also dated in look and feel. And it definitely needs a refresher.
But BandAmp was designed by musicians for musicians. It's a shame that I no longer have access to the source code. Because there were a lot of ideas years ago. But if users migrate to nicer platforms, then we shouldn't be surprised if it becomes increasingly rare for them to meet here.
Sorry, you do not have access to post...
