A rock song.
This is by no means autobiographical so don't get the wrong idea.
I've somehow managed to mix this a lot louder than I usually manage without peaks. My stuff usually comes out pretty quiet... But, is it mixed too loud? I have no decent monitor and only really my headphones to rely on so let me know if you experience peaking distortion or or any other mixing nasties.
Cheers.

hey this is good |
I love the effect on your voice. This song has great energy. fantastic breaks. cool drums . cool guitar tones.
wow this is real good. gets a real high vote from me.
PS you need to PM me and tell me how you did the vox effects lol

Thanks guys. I guess there were no distortion issues with the mix in your listening experiences then? I still can't believe how much louder I managed to get this compared to my other stuff. The guitar sound has been a bugbear for me for some time but I'm starting to get it somewhere near what I want- think it sounds better in this one than any of the others and I made a conscious effort to pull the vocals out front this time too- think that has been effective in the overall sound also.
Thanks for comment on vox, Toasted. There's really not much special in the technique over and above a little distortion and reverb and layering two tracks of identical but seperate performances panned a little to left and right.
Marino. Thx mate (and thanks also for the comments on some of my other songs). I'm recording with a load of old crap to be honest, cheap and nasty from start to finish but I'm starting to get the most from it When I win the lottery I'm gonna buy me a recording studio

Heh, you stole that main riff from the Kinks (You Really Got Me)
Yeahhh I like this song, the raw rock power and the distorted vocals very well done. Funny how you say "When I win the lottery" and not "If I win the lottery"... Linguistically blackmailing the dice of Fate, a genius move.
It's a cool piece of work, I had expected a solo to kick in somewhere but it's not necessary. Well done, good vote!
and to answer your questions: I don't think it's mixed too loud, and I was not experiencing distortion/clipping but I didn't listen through headphones, on the other hand my monitors are OK, I would notice that kind of thing. Eventually I will listen more closely through headphones because it sits in my itunes library now

Very good stuff...I like it, good guitar good vocals...Maybe make drums a bit louder, so you give more power to it...other than that, it sounds really cool....maybe try to do something in mix or arangement so verse and chorus are different, so that it's easily to tell, this is chorus and this is versy...good job...
