Overdub
*
It's a bluesy guitar solo over a rhythm track--no vocals or any terribly fancy effects.

A completely improvised-on-the-spot recording with a friend who is a genius sound engineer who I hadn't jammed with in over a year.  Two layers in two takes.  We recorded in a basement in his house--considering the location and the equipment we used, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Each layer is actually three tracks--I play a semi-acoustic here that was miked at the headstock and by the bridge, as well as the sound from direct-input.  There is some reverb on the tracks as well as a overdrive filter applied to the lead layer.

Played on a Gretsch G6040MCSS Synchromatic Cutaway with two SM57's mixed with Fruity Loops.

Enjoy.

I like the melodies and the work put into this. However this seems unbalanced mostly concentrated around the left speaker.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

DJ:  I honestly can't hear that.  If it's there, it's kind of slight.  I'll ask the guy who mastered it for me to take a look at that.

Sounds fairly centered to me  Well maybe a slight amount left!
Like little jam, no! very nice piece of music.
Very chilled mood, like to hear it as a song some time.

I guess this is just the beginning of something greater

I like everything so far, just think the distorted guitar is too dry - could use some delay

you know, for what it's worth...

I'll rate it when it's done...

Thanks, I appreciate the comment.  I agree with you, it is too dry.  I find that software effects usually have that problem.  I'm having a remaster done, and hopefully that will be all fixed.

productions here, with keys, bass and even lite brass..
just my ears feeding my brain in overtime bro... I do like
it a lot... I don't put this much thought into half the stuff
I hear on here.. but this merits it..

Well recorded nicely played blues jam that's only really missing drums and a bit of playing dynamics to be a really nice piece of music.

There is some imbalance in the mix, the acoustic is slightly more to the left; and yes, the lead could have a touch of delay to clear the dry sound - but it's not really an issue with this track, which is still a good listening experience.

Very pretty, I can imagine hearing a voice over the top kinda like the guy from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
I like the lead guitar, but I reackon if you were ever gonna add vocals to this, some parts of the lead would have to be taken out.
As it stands though, its pretty darn good. Excelent playing! Not that I know anything about guitars at all...
