OKA Band performing a JLH-style blues... as follows

A FLY IN THE SOUP
by Jack Cat
December 1997

Steppin’ in the shadow                E
waitin’ in the nite
swimming in the river
walkin’ down the line
like a fly in the soup                A
just like yesterday’ s smile            A        E
like a fly in the soup                A
just like yesterday’ s smile            A        E
feelin’ as a worm on a hook            G    A7    E
yes I feel like a worm on your hook          G    A7    E
feelin’ as a worm on a hook            G    A7    E
yes I feel like a worm on your hook          G    A7    E

spinking in the sky
dancin’ with the wind
as a sparklin’ lite
fallin’ down the hill
watch your steps babe
don’t be a fly in my soup
watch your steps babe
don’t be a fly in my soup
looking as a worm on a hook
yes ya’ look as a worm on my hook
looking as a worm on a hook
yes ya’ look as a worm on my hook

funky
I love the groove - the vocals are cooly Dylanesque (which I have a soft spot for anyways) and I LOVE that guitar.   Good one.

Nice groove as TomFool says - the guitar playing is great.
I like the sax work, which is just this side of discordant, but works really well for a blues number.
Your vocal delivery is quite unique; I love the accent!

Nice work JackCat

Really great blues song, I'm really enjoying this. I like the twist on the I-IV-V with the G break part, reminds me a lot of Jesus left Chicago by ZZ-Top. I don't see much blues around bandamp, it's really good to hear some especially with such a strong groove to it. I'm not sure what horn that is (if it's a horn) but it sounds a bit out of tune but a decent solo. Could use a bit more life and bit more rhythmic variety. The guitar solo also I think could do with a bit more life. The song has a really solid groove to it and the solos drag some of it down when they could give the whole tune more energy. Still a really great job. Keep it up.
