I cannot have you
*

This song is not in a battle

This came out of my frustration of trying to write a happy, fast song and failing. So, I strummed two chords very slowly over and over until I got my frustrations out, and then said, "what the heck, I'll make these two chords into a song"

30 minutes later I have this.

Lyrics:
I dreamt of you last night
The third time all this week
You seem find me
In my sleep
But I can’t have you

I remember
all the times that were before
You looked across the room
And you know that I was sure
I cannot have you girl

You know you’re an angel
Even though you think you’re not
I’ve got your number
Yet I know my words are shot
I cannot have you girl

Cannot have you

etc...

Well for 30 minutes of creative flow this is quite good.
It needs some Jelly and some Custard and a little French Mustard.
Leave it to simmer for an hour or so and it will be done.

Yeah. No joke. It doesn't even sound that simple for two chords. The voice you have seems dark and more geared towards a slower song anyways, why change it when it works? This is beautiful. Itty bitty guitar at the end with the repeating of "cannot have you" is haunting.

Thanks guys...

I tried adding organ and backup vocals but it made it sound muddy and unrefined...so I'm just going to leave it as it is.

Lol "muddy and unrefined"? I'd say that adequately describes the song right now. But, I don't mean to say it ain't cool. It is, its really cool that way.
Mostly sounds that way to me because of the distortion on the guitar. It's like...really basic, primitive, if you knw what I mean.

I like the melancholic sort of feel.
And I also like the lyrics, I mean simple but nicely done.
I think it's lacking a chorus line or something to break up, but without losing the atmosphere
