This song is not in a battle

This is a song that my and my sister did a while ago.
Yes, it's a Christian song and yes, I'm a Christian.
This was done, oh, about two years ago. I really just wanted you all to hear what my voice sounded like(and hopefully soon know what it currently sounds like) then.
It's slow and simple, didn't take all that much work.
*EDIT*
My good friend Josh Wheeler was the studio technician and made Grace and I sound cool.
Without his musical talents I think this wouldn't have existed!
Now don't get me wrong I can play a guitar decently and pluck some stuff out on the piano. But, in this case my musical talents weren't at work.
*/EDIT*
But it goes to show that you can make redo an already existing praise song, with your own voice, in about an hours time. Give me ratings!!!

hi Caleb

Of course you CAN make a redo of an existing song in such a short time - the problem is : is it interesting enough to catch an ear and what the quality of such a remake is.  I am not saying your song needs any improvements - certainly, for some,  it would souond better with a nice clean guitar, possibly brushes/drums, a choir doing the background vocals, bass, etc.

The question one needs to ask her/himself before doing a remake of a song is what new ideas would I like to introduce to this song and what would i like to change in it that i do not like in the original. or you can simply do it because you like it, which is what u did, i believe, as the only idea introduced here by you is simplification of arrangement, is it?

Hope to hear more of yuor stuff soon. Let's see how this type of music or should i say lyrics (christian) will go down with bandampers.

Nice song, easy to listen. You have good voices ( a bit wobbly sometimes, but creating nice harmonies)

I'm a christian... heard this song lots of times, but I still want something faster, even though this is another nice clone/remix/remake or whatever floats your boat.

Psh, yeah! good harmonies. Be careful when starting a note, I'm hearing a few fracs (wrong pitches) at the begining of the note before you lock in with your sister. Easy listen, mmhmm, but I'd prefer about 30 bpm faster with some drums and a wee bitta guitar and more bass.

hmmm

i must say this

your voices are wonderfull

i injoyed the female vox alot, it was harder to pin poit your voice because it was farther back in the mix, but i still injoyed it. you two work very well together like me and my bro if i could only get him to sing with me. now i am not christian or any thing else like that and this isnt really my cup of tea when it comes to genra, but i must say the quality and vocals on this were wonderfull i cant wait for you to put something more recent up hopefully you'll broden your standereds and genras and try something new?

wow!

awesome.

great song. good job on vox. it was a nice surprise.

like luke said, there are a few small spots where intonation can be improved, but for the most part, it sounded great.

how old were you and your sister when this was recorded?

very nice.

well, this doesn't sound bad at all. would have been nice if the voices were panned apart a little, or - doubled a few times over, and then panned across the entire stereo image.

anyway, I think the male voice is a little soft in this mix, so it's not easy to tell what it really sounds like... but the voices work well together. except for a few minor glitches it's a good performance.

praise songs are heartwarming. you did well. I like how it builds up, even in this minimal arrangement, with the strings in the background.... yeah, all in all on the tech side some remixing could be applied, but it suffices for the purpose I think.

so, looking forward to more of your work, and welcome ofcourse, at The Amp!

yours truly,
PX (mod)

ps. I am not a christian either - and do not be fooled by my avatar - I'm just a humanist-atheist (with a streak of zen-gnosticism sneakily weaved in there )

WOW!!!
I am very impressed!! I have listened to it six times now,
and it's going again as I type... as you can see I gave it one
of the highest ratings that I have given any song on here..
I rate - grade on a curve.. this one has reset the averages
too!!
It is very beautiful!! and you did it! I had to fight back
tears yesterday when the guys commented on my little
song.. but was unable to fight it when I heard this one!
My heart swelled like a balloon being filled to capacity!!!
My grandfather was an ol time country preacher and no
matter how far I run, I can never get away from my own
spirituality!! as I said in a reply to one of the comments I
received, my views and beliefs are very controversial about
religion... But the one thing my wife has always told people
is that no matter what I have never stopped believing in
our supreme power!! This is the type of song that only
helps to refill our chalice when it is almost empty..
I for one love the way it turned out here... the vocals lend
a thought towards "children" expressing that open and untanted
love that they know until they are exposed to the conditioning
of the world! you remember where it says, "come unto me with
the heart of a child and you shall enter the kingdom of heaven"...
I hope that this analogy is taken the right way and understood
as it is meant...
JPD has a point about the guitars and some soft brush percussion..
But being a keyboardist - pianist myself, I find this very nice
without it... some tender, lightly distorted guitar echos similar to
pedal steel guitar licks wouldn't take away, but it truly is hard to
add anything as it is...  Vocally, it is great.. I do come from a
very strong musical theoretical background, and had to grill
until everything, especially vocals were perfect.. with this said,
I will critique the vocals by saying an old german phrase..
Ubung Mach Den Meister.. "practice makes the master" or
practice makes perfect in simple english..  the vocals are as I said,
great!! emphasizing great!! tightening them up as far as attacks,
releases and fluid movements would only be needed if the preformers
- artists felt so inclined... and the importance of breathing can never
be emphasized near enough.. but this last bit doesn't necessarily apply
to this song.. just for your own personal, future knowledge..
In light of everyone else's comments, I really don't think I could
add one cubic to that stature!!! All, including mine, should well tell
you that you should never doubt yourself. And that with such inspirations
as you seem to have, you can't ever loose.. Never stop!! And don't let
any negative falter you from your path!! remain true and steady the
course! You will find total enlightenment!!
before I get deep enough that that mad russian rolls over yet again,
I will leave it here and pray you have realized that you found a spot
deep in my heart my friend!! Bless You!!

Blessings,

Blueyes - Dan
