It Fades

This song is not in a battle

Would this make a good rock song?  This is a song I wrote a while back, and we are experimenting to finish it but it in an agressive style.  I have never finished it.  The guitar recording has an irresistable "I have concrete blocks duct taped to my fingers" sort of feel, so pardon that, this was never a finished work. Any feedback would be appreciated.  I just think that it could kind of climb somewhere and maybe musically jump off or at least stand at the edge and consider it.  Thanks Dan

Alexander gloried in greatness
As Ceasar in his power
and though arrayed in temporal splendor
they faded like the flower.....

as it fades

as life fades like fleeting vapor
that vanishes away
as the brief flickering of mortal tenure
 into the grave gives way

Fade away

........and as soldiers, slaves and servants
labour 'neath the blaze

and sweat their minutes, hours and decades
 into the dreary haze.

In mundane haze

Striving and never finding
 fulfilment in their ways

How they curse the plow
wipe off their brow
and hope for better days......
Some escape into a bottle, a woman or a song
finding inbetween their labours it doesnt take too long
until like the flower ...

it fades.....away

"if i could only be like only Ceasar! .......the fantasy of slaves "

"And, if I could only sleep like my servants! my madness how it raves....How it raves!"

You are a great singer. Not a rock song but a rock ballad. Needs work on the guitar's sound and the buildup of the song. But the vocals are perfect. Wish I had such a voice

The lyrics rock but focus on the building the structure of your melody

this sounds very good to me
reminds me to some old Genesis works(Selling England by the Pound, maybe the historical/romantic lyrics are causing that)
why turn to an agressive aproach? i can understand that with a band you can add some distorted chords and some drum breaks to give it a rock feel,
melodic rock would be a perfect fit i believe
yet i like it this way very much too!
hope to hear the band version once!
