SUBSTANCE (lyrics: Rodney/me/Lawrence)

Day in day out…always seems the same thing…
No matter what you try to do, perhaps letting go might give you a clue…
There’s nothing wrong in going down on your knees…
To please another’s hungry needs…
Can’t thank you enough for the strength to go on…

I’ve seen your substance…I’ve seen your graceful shining light…
Help me out of my maze to exit…
Should be round here somewhere…just can’t reach it yet…

Can’t be with any of you…No confrontation or instant feelings…
Please, I’m already blue!…so, why go on?…
There must be more than suffering or souls bleeding!?…
I need to give life some substance or I’ll…
…sink further in this pattern of self-denial…
It’s about Time to come outside…

Into the substance…Into your graceful shining light…
Help me out of my maze to your exit…
Growing numb somehow…just can’t grasp it yet…
                                      SOLO: HUGO
Why am I someone who needs substance to keep the peace in me?…
Going for that state to be…A winding road with destiny…
I can feel it here somewhere inside of me…
I know the substance somehow…I just can’t picture it yet!?…
                                      SOLO: MARCO
Wish I was someone, someone needed your substance to keep…
…A clear head indeed…

Going down on my knees to please you & feed your hungry needs…
Thank you for the strength to go on…I’m really hopeless on my own…

Hoping for substance…Hoping for your graceful shining light…
Help me out of my maze to your exit…
Should be round here somehow?…I just can’t reach it yet…

wow, quite epic metal this.

lots of things happening in there. must admit, I zoned out a couple of times - my attention drifted off.

but it's a great quality production. the main distortion though is a little rough on the ears, in a not-so-nice way. otherwise, it's all great. vocals are great... whole feel to the song is great... instrumentals all very well performed. good composition also, I love the ending!

ok pretty cool. is this a new recording btw? or is it your old band u-tow?

EDIT: like battlecat, giving this more listens, I grow more fond of it too!

Reminds me of old-school Procol Harum with its extended themes, powerful vocals, incendiary guitar; however, updated with a more modern metal sensibility. Like Puppet, I found myself drifting off at times, perhaps from "over saturation" (as this song is quite rich with varied elements) but I used to do that with Procol Harum, too. It's almost as if I wished the song would stick to one element....but I think I might have been missing the point....that is the genre...this feels like rock theater. Anyway I find that I am compelled to listen to the song over and over, just to grasp all the different components. And I do this with pleasure. As I listen more, I find myself increasingly "drawn in". This song seriously rocks!. Love the pealing, echoed vocals, the chopping, crunchy, guitar rhythms, those searing guitar leads, and the old-school orchestral synths. I almost find myself "head-banging" at times.

gotta add a new post...I'm growing increasingly fond of this song...it's almost like the song demands that you surrender to it.....(can't.....resist....must....add to playlist.....)

tnx guys, I'm learning, difficult to say which guitarsound is too much Puppet, i find them both quite rough wich is also why the song is so saturating maybe

Never thought i'd be compared to Procal Harum, but do like em so i'll take it for a
compliment battlecat, even if drifting off

and about the songstructure; I just like to experiment, maybe it ís too much...

MaxB: the reference to Procol Harum was meant definitely as a compliment. I am a big fan of them and I'm a new fan of yours!

Great professional performance. Don't know why your songs are going down here on bandamp. They must be heard all over the world. It's an origin genre but I really do believe that this is great stuff. You are a musican!
