sunset saga
*
Hi, Its been quite a long time since i've been on here. I hope everyone is doing good.
I've been toying around with this for the past week, and i'm still not very happy with it, but I think thats mainly b'cos it sounds too similar to all the rest of my stuff... I'm in a bit of a musical rut...

feedback and criticisms are always welcome

cheers

is there any way to record the low, middle, and high ends of the keyboard separately?  That way, you could try to pan out the bass to the left, and the high to the right a bit.  I think it would help give it more of a 3d sound.

I like the flute-ish sound a lot.

If there's a way to make those drums a little bit more punchy, I think that'd help.  Or maybe combine an extra bass hit on top of the heavy drum pounding noises.

The faster picked-up second half is really cool.  I love the rolls on the piano in that 3:00-ish range.

Altogether, it makes me think of some aborigine / native american feel

excellent mood and emotion.  I was afraid at the beginning that it was going to be an empty sound with just the piano, but you really picked it up and made it great!

I like this one very much, Sir Borris!   You say it sounds pretty much like the rest of your work, then I definitely have to take a listen to it
Everything goes good... what the guys point out would help, like to make it even better, too. What I like the most is the sensation it transmits... it is very deep. Incredible!  Good rating!

Listening again!
I like this song a lot. It's very uplifting and kind of sweeps you along.
Your drum skin is loose !
If it needs anything it needs a little 'refining' of the production...maybe...
What a dramatic piece, I really like the piano coming in at 3:50 like a reminder or after shock, it could go on for a little longer because it's a very nice touch and says a lot about how you 'feel' your music.

thanks for the feedback guys. some very good advice there, which is much appreciated. for some reason, I never seem to pay much attention to the post production stuff (mastering and panning etc); maybe b'cos i'm so fed up of hearing it by the time i've finished recording. But it must be important b'cos you all mention production, so I'll fiddle about with the this a bit more...

cheers
