sunrise saga
*
hey
I've been doing nothing but recording for about 24hrs, (excluding about 4 hours of sleep). Its been a long time since i've been inspired to make any music, so i guess im making up for it... .
I'd really like some percussion to go with this track, but i dont have any samples or vst's that would suit it. Any takers for that (i.e. collab)?

Hope you enjoy it. feedback is nice, criticisms and all.

Ian

Good morning Ian first treat of the day don't forget to eat and stretch
,beautiful composition and arrangement ,first thought re percussion went orchestral path ?
At 30 secs the bass and piano chord make dissonance ,personal choice would be to go tonic, unless it was intentional in which case part of the atmosphere.
Really enjoyed thankyou

hey, yeah, i was thinking something deep and bassy for percussion (like tympani or big ethnic drum...?) with maybe some rides and symbal crashes...
At 30 sec, i changed key quite suddenly. i'd probably like to make that smoother somehow (or maybe i should just not change key ). btw, whats tonic?

cheers

I think is fine with out the drums!!!This is quite nicely layered!!The horn is a bit contrasting in color...The feels is so sweet that I'm thinking maybe softening the horn with a verb or delay should work...Anyways awesome job!

had same sort of experience lately with my song Ice, haven done much a long time before that and then suddenly something wants to get out and gets me an a state of 'hypnotyzed recording mode'
it only stops when the song is finished or the body energy

anyway, great, no, GREAT  piece of work, enjoyed it 3 times in a row
think the reverb suggestion above is a good one

btw aint there some perc. on your standard midi instruments? not that i think they are necessary, the bass gets it done very well

sometimes i think the midi-ness distracts, but thats midi , and without it you wouldn't/couldn't have made it

Hey, thanks for the great feedback.
The trumpet was the thing i was least sure about. I'll try the reverb, but maybe i'll take it out altogether. Usually i'd just move onto another project after posting, but i really want to get this the best it can be.

I agree, midi is a pain in the butt. It sounds soo mechanical. I've tried individual note offsetting and playing with dynamics in FL, but i think the only real solution is to save up for a digital piano...

I've no experience with midi at all, but I have heard some pretty good orchestral Vsti's and perhaps somebody here on the AMP can post them to you, cheaper than buying a digital piano or aleast until you have saved up for one. I am forever always trying to improve my sound, personally thats where I get my inspiration, as I'm sure there are many the same.

I like the piano the best, the melody line in the right pan is nice. The song has a great atmoshere, which is maintained throughout the song, so well done for that, it was worth it to put the hours in to create it, without that you probably would not have been able to sustain the mood and feel of the song.

Well done!!

Cheers

Denis
