This song is not in a battle

At the time we thought it good even if simple, we still do.  What do you think?

A simple and very nice tune, spoiled for me in two places:
-     At 1:18 when you have the party music in the background.
-     The ending, when you use a hi-hat/reversed cymbal sound and introduce the electric piano.  Both sounds incongruous with the rest of the music.

My suggestions would be to use the acoustic guitar in both places.  At 1:18 have it strumming a "dance" rhythm, but put it a long way back in the mix.  For the end, forget the cymbal and just play the same progression, but on the guitar.

Nice!
Really nice track!  Like the style...

but have to agree with the 1.18 music, sounds like someone put the stereo on when you were recording!

but the rest is great, keep up the good work!

Thanks for your suggestions. 1) For the record: the main instrument is a (stand up) harp.  We tried guitars(electric and acoustic) but could not get the right sound/feeling; 2) a rock'n roll riff played on electric guitar was initially planned at 1:18 but then we've got carried away and "sampled" what you hear instead; 3) Hi hat/electric piano...well, you may be right.  We'll try it your way if/when we record it again.

Czesc.

Again, a really nice track. When I was first listening to it and got to the place with the background music in it, I thought it was a pop-up window with some music to it, so I have to agree it didn't come out as well as it might have. It servesthe purpose well but it should either be shorter, or have a different piece of music pasted in there.

On the good side, I think it's almost as if you reached for the best traditions there could be. It was the Beatles' SHE"S LEAVING HOME that first introduced the harp into rock music, wasn't it? Anyway, it sounds VERY good, and it has this special feel to it, which (I agree) would be difficult to acheive if guitars were used.

The vocals are really nice as well. The song itself is not as catchy as some other of yours, but it a fabulous piece of music.

PS. Who played the harp? it' a pretty unusual instrument...

This remembered me of Stevie Wonder's "If it's magic". A harp is a pretty wonderful instrument. I've got a few synth harps but they sound very synthetic although they are samples.

Nice song but not my style-

Cheers Carsten

Who played the harp?
1) I guess you are all right about the 1:18 "sampling": it should have been anything but  instead. Our only excuse is that in 1995 when the song was recorded "sampling" (which is practiced right and left today) was relatively new and confined to rap music.  We wanted to be "different".  The result proves once again: "Don't follow trends--follow your instincts!"; 2) A Julliard (NYC music school) student, a pretty Kazakh girl plays the harp.  Thank you all again for taking time to express your opinion.  Regards.

Top marks to Ms Julliard not least for choosing to specialise in an instrument which needs 2 people to lift. It really makes your song. Pretty much all I know about Kazakhstan is limited to that idiot Borat that we get on UK TV (who has never been anywhere near Kazakhstan).

Agree with the 1:18 comments and with whoever said ditch the electric piano. The strings work well though.
