Seriously, though, We all are talking about change, and wanting change, and we have change(I got 35cents) SO, we need to organize our thoughts better, and Marino is our thought orginzer-ey kind of guy, so He has a thread going to help organize them better, I know we have done threads about the ideas we have before, but they end up being a debate about why this should or shouldn't be done, and my idea is better and blah blah blah... This AINT that kind of thread.. PLEASE restrict yourself to ONLY the ideas, and not the banter, If you want your ideas to be considered seriously, then lets keep this serious... <content type="xhtml" xml:lang="en" xml:base="http://forum.bandamp.com/Announcements/1307.html">The site is officially yours :D What does this mean? I'm giving this website to you, the loyal members of BandAMP. I'm giving away all rights to commercialize this property. This doesn't mean I wont be helping in future development... it just means, now you can participate in bringing this community into its true potential.

So what's next? I'm going to setup a Non-Profit Organization, so BandAMP will not only officially belong to you, but legally as well. This way, you, the members, will have complete control in the future of BandAMP!

Pitch in to help make the website truly be, for musicians, by musicians. Do you know PHP, Javascript, or Flash? Perhaps you're a great website designer, or a writer who wants to extend the FAQs, About Us, et cetera. If you have an idea you'd like to implement, contact Jim who will be divvying out server access to start working on the code. Btw, is there some way you'd guys preferably meet online? We could have developer chats on IRC to get people coordinated. It might be easier for some people if there was a separate chartroom on BandAMP for developers.

——————

BandAMP code will become Open Source (GPL) once the it's been looked over by a few members (and perhaps some bugs, security issues, ect. may need to be fixed). It will be released on NoFunc a website some friends, and myself, have been depositing random bits of GPL'd code. There's a lot of tidbits in there that could be useful, especially this playlist editor that allows you to reorganize your music, rate music, edit titles in place, and so on. I've not had a chance to tie it into the database or make sure it works in Internet Explorer, so someone could volunteer expedite that. Also, maybe a layout more like this would be more appropriate for the amp... (of coarse with different content)

This kind of development has worked for Wikipedia, Linux, and many other popular projects. Let's make it work for us.</content>

We could have it at my house...I was thinking mid-August 2007....I live in Southern Ontario...close to Niagara Falls (a great sightseeing opportunity!)....

I'm thinking I could set up a big tent....set-up a stage....live music....camping in my yard (it's big - and I live on a beach!) big bbq, kegger, weeeee! There are also tons of hotels nearby...

I'd like to find out how many folks are interested....I figure that organizing it now would give everyone plenty of time to plan....even our oversees ampers could possibly find their way here! :D :D :D</content>

Please, people... Placing votes is not so hard... Check the &quot;Browse&quot; tab in the navigation bar on top of the forum screens. It will bring you to the &quot;Current Battle&quot; page, and you can click the titles to bring you the song pages. You can vote by guiding your mouse over the stars in the top right corner of the thread page, or the stars next to the &quot;subject&quot; field in the message edit box. Your mouse pointer will show a percentage when you do, simply click to have your vote registered.

IT'S EASY!

If there are only so few members voting to songs in the battle, how can the battle results ever be any meaningful?

So, I suggest, if you haven't already - and that counts for a lot of you! - please, go over those songs in the battle and let them know what you think about it! And vote, too! It's fun, really! Just pump up the volume and try to figure out why ever some of the members had the guts (or even nerve!) to put exactly that song in the battle!

Ok, that's it... So have fun eh? ;)</content>

and for you all who write music but can't write lyrics all that well, maybe you can find something in the lyrics review section. maybe you can strike up a duo-made song. (ie, don't steal the lyrics, but rather, make the song together.)

you want good music? then help us people make our lyrics better before we put them to a recording :) this is your chance to screen what gets made into music (to an extent).

<content type="xhtml" xml:lang="en" xml:base="http://forum.bandamp.com/Announcements/23504.html">Hello everybody!

I'm PuppetXeno, musician, commoner and primarily end-user of this lovely site. Well, not just end-user anymore... As some of you already know, I've recently been made &quot;moderator&quot; of the forums featured here :)

This is because every forum needs moderation to prevent anarchy ( - of the bad kind), to keep it reasonably clean of leftover double posts and misplaced, malicious comments. As we all know, BandAMP is a serious non-profit organization and we don't want funky talk blocking our creative flows. Well, talking about funk may be a good idea every now and then, but I think you know what I mean.

Anyway, to keep a long story short - I'll be on here pretty much every day, doing what I always did, except when I come across something ... &quot;funky&quot;, I can now tend to it appropriately. Also, I will be answering to posts in the &quot;Abuse&quot; forum and even more importantly, my mailbox is always open to any possible requests or questions that you may have... For instance if there's a bunch of double posts in one of your song threads that you want to get rid of, just drop me a line. Do not pm me however in an attempt to find out who it was giving you a very bad rating to your song :dead: it just doesn't work that way. Also, I can be found on the chat quite often, you can always yap your heart out there aswell.

So, anyway, now you know there's someone around with a broom and a mop, and I'm supposed to be a very nice guy, glad to be able to help out a little here :)

So cheers, and see ya all around!

<content type="xhtml" xml:lang="en" xml:base="http://forum.bandamp.com/Announcements/8762.html">Ok, so the server crashed last week. That was a real pain in the butt. Some of you probably noticed, hopefully some of you haven't, but either way we've lost about 10 days of data and work so if we lost your post or your song we're very sorry. You might notice that the old design is back as well. Oh well. Between server reinstall and upgrades and bug squashing on the reinstall it's taken a while to get back online but we're finally back! Please repost your songs! We're moving to a SAN solution so this shouldn't ever happen again. I'll be working over time to get the new design back up to where it was - which shouldn't be super hard because I did it once before and I know what needs to be done again, it's just a matter of doing it. Happy BandAMPing folks! Sorry for the delay!</content>

<content type="xhtml" xml:lang="en" xml:base="http://forum.bandamp.com/Announcements/8761.html">Numerous factors have put BandAMP into a situation where we are no longer able to provide prizes to our winners. Your prize for winning the battle is now the satisfaction of a job well done and the fame that comes with being #1 on BandAMP. We posted this almost a month ago on the forums but it seems that some people didn't see it and were confused thinking that we are still giving out prizes. Sorry to anyone who thought they were winning a prize this month but we are not shipping prizes for the August battle and will not be shipping prizes for battles in the near future. We may reinstate the prize system once BandAMP begins to generate enough revenue to support itself but as it stands BandAMP is a non-profit endeavor created by some folks who want it to exist because they think it's a cool thing to do. Currently the money that goes into it does not come back so we are no longer able to send out prizes to our winners. If you want to donate money to BandAMP or you know someone who does please message one of the admins and let them know - it is much appreciated. Thank you for your patience and understanding and good luck in the coming battles!

Sincerely
-The BandAMP Team</content>
